Dark Poetry Fragments (from Feb 2024)

Welcome to some quiet poetry fragments from the archive.

These were written as part of a daily poetry word prompt by Quill & Crow Publishing House, back in February 2024.

They are part of a darker terrain, a seed for something yet to unfurl.

I’ll possibly expand on these in Volume II or Volume III of a future dragon poetry collection. . .

Feb 10, 2024 / “sanctified”

I used to feel sullied—
Bodies entangled
No longer mishandled
Cleansing myself of your lies
Sleepless nights and wretched sighs
A dream that was forever
A reality that was never
Getting me in so deep
Watching you wither in your sleep
I feel sanctified—

Feb 11, 2024 / “(un)dead”

Dead—
is what I said
you’d be to me
spells and incantations
to refresh the energy
in my soul and home
till a song or
conversations
bring back memories
and I realized
You’d never be—

~

Feb 13, 2024 / “dominate”

If you’re stuck in a place you hate—
you’d know that
Godforsaken sense of
rage & hopelessness
settling in your marrow
as it conspires to
dominate your senses
leaving you to burn imprisoned
down in the fiery depths of Hell.

~

Feb 14, 2024 / “Queen”

The Queen
gazed upon her loyal
ladies-in-waiting
selecting a trio of virgins
renowned for their beauty
unblemished skin
and lustrous locks
she concocted a powder
out of their bones
as part of her anti-aging regimen—
they loved her, after all

~

Feb 16, 2024 / “lust”

Your nightly
incubus partner
is here; a woman’s lust
may be frowned upon
in daylight
r e a l i t y
but corridors of
moonlit dreams
are where our twin
flames meet

~

Feb 16, 2024 / “necrotic”

My heart
burns & bleeds
with lesions
necrotic
as I am
neurotic
We’re now ashes
in a dying flame
of a pyre
I made but
never desired
