Microcast script:
Hello everyone, and welcome back to this quiet voice archive.
First, an update about my tiny YouTube channel: I’ve been slowly adding more shorts and videos over there (I’m @JessWriting over there).
That’s the slightly more polished version of this microcast—same terrain, just with a little more visual shimmer.
I’m looking forward to slowly posting more poetry fragments over there, some of which I myself had forgotten that I’d written.
Vol One Dragon Poems
As for Volume One of the dragon poems, that is mostly completed. I’ve set it aside for now, to let it steep. Final edits and checks will happen when the timing feels right.
There are 48 poems, 12 per quadrant, and they span about twenty years of sporadic scribblings and writings.
Lost & Found
A mini drama unfolded recently—I thought all my old material I’d written under my retired pen name had vanished. Because the external hard drive…went missing, LOL.
But I managed to locate one preview copy of an old haiku collection I’d put together. And the difference is astounding!!
I might share a few fragments of “past nonsense from the creative vault” in a future episode. Just for fun and for some contrast.
The biggest shift I’ve noticed is in my writing style and emotional depth. Back in my teens and early twenties, I was impulsive and in full-on self-discovery mode. (I’m an Aries rising, which is an energetic rising sign but sometimes not exactly the most “think before doing” type. By the way, is anyone who’s listening to or reading this also an Aries rising? 🐏)
So a lot of my early writing was rough, multiple genre-crossing, and raw or with lots of rough edges.
But looking back now, I’m glad to see some growth. It gives me some hope that with sustained effort and clear focus, I can keep evolving in writing, life, career, or relational areas.
Be Kind
Also, here’s a gentle reminder to be kind to yourself. We all start somewhere.
I quit writing or doing anything creative for a few years in my late twenties (or was it my early thirties?) as I felt like I wasn’t sure about who I was creatively or what my creative voice wanted to say.
The early scrolls or fragments might be messy, but they’re part of the whole story, whether it’s on a mythic or mundane level. I’ve been composting what no longer serves, so that I have a refreshed mind and energy to shape new material moving forward.
Thanks for listening or reading. More soon, when the next creative spark wants to speak. ✨
