Hi everyone, I’ve been on a local road trip recently so I’ve ACTUALLY, for once, been online less!!
Today it’s been raining outside almost all day, so I’m easing back into my online and other hobbies.
I have a bunch of photos and short videos to sort out. I live in Downeast Maine, and I’ve always liked water in nature (Side Note: Maybe because I’m a Pisces Moon??)…..and I saw lots of different types of bodies of water on my explorations.
For example, I saw:
- Passamaquoddy Bay from different locations
- Machias River
- St. Croix River from different angles
- A “fishless pond” on an esker trail
- A couple of coves, and
- Lots of other fascinating things

Each body of water had its own vibe or personality and that in itself is something I’m continuing to ponder over and think about.
I shared some pics on a Passamaquoddy Bay blog post on Dragonsinn: Passamaquoddy (Pete’s Dragon, 1977)
Plus a video I took in November:
I think the timing was perfect as I used the last few sunny days of mid to late autumn for exploration (it gets cold in north-eastern Maine FAST lol)…and I have the rainy days now for reflection and general planning.
These recent outings have also made me think about long-term happiness in terms of career, professional development, or other life choices. It was my first trip that was more nature or outdoor focused and it was more enlivening than I thought it’d be.
I’ll think about how to organise and share some of the photos or vids here on the blog, as well as on my tiny YouTube channel (@JessWriting).
The voltage of rugged, unspoiled nature and the freedom of walking around in it was really something. I did notice a couple of trash items here and there, and I picked them up—it felt better leaving the place a little cleaner than I found it.
A gentle reminder: please tuck your wrappers or plastic bottles back in your pocket or something. It’s such a small act, but it keeps these trails and coves beautiful for everyone (and for the wildlife too).

Thanks for being here.
