Today I’m sharing a small creative win from late last year.
I had stumbled across Dark Poets Club: a UK‑based dark poetry collective with a very Edgar Allan Poe aesthetic.
Lots of skulls, ravens, and moody Victorian vibes. Naturally, I was intrigued.
I submitted a few very short gothic poems, originally written years ago from a prompt shared by Quill & Crow Publishing on their X account. And I was genuinely surprised to hear that one of them—a tiny poem titled Queen—received an honourable mention.
There were over 2,300 entries from forty‑six countries, so it must have been quite a process to narrow things down.

Around the same time, I also submitted a few pieces to The Broken Spine anthologies, also in the UK.
I’ll admit I was partly drawn in by the covers and the aesthetic. I’m hoping for good news there at some point.
Meanwhile, I’m slowly moving along with my dragon poetry collection.
I’ve recorded a few soft, quiet readings that I plan to upload to YouTube.
I’m still editing the poems in the last two quadrants, and once that’s done, I can finally move into formatting.
And of course, I have a few side quests like:
- a small gothic chapbook
- some darker themed pieces, and
- a remixed Deadly Sins collection that I rescued from the forgotten corners of my Google Drive
That’s today’s update. A little gothic win, a few submissions in the wild, and steady progress on the dragon front.
